About The Curl Collective

Adelaide's curly hair specialist. A salon built around the texture you were born with.

[ our story ]

The Curl Collective is the curly hair specialist in Adelaide. You will be shown the best way to wear your naturally curly hair, not fight it. Every cut and colour is tailored to the spring, weight and behaviour of your particular curl pattern, whether your hair is short or long, fine or dense. You should never feel like a prisoner to your curls.

the space

The Norwood salon is sulphate-free, paraben-free and silicone-free. The Curl Collective cuts your hair using hydrating products made for all curl types.

the method

The Curl Collective supports the Curly Girl Method® and recommends organic, plant-based products that respect the hair's natural moisture barrier. But the salon is not limited to this one method. Lou works with whatever is best for your individual curls. Education is part of every appointment, so you leave knowing why your curls behave the way they do, and how to keep them happy between visits.

Lou Marshall

The Curl Collective was founded by Lou in 2010. Having lived with curls her entire life, specialising in curly hair became a natural progression of her craft.

As more people began seeking support in understanding and embracing their curls, Lou continued to expand her education and refine her skills within the curl industry.

With limited opportunities for advanced curl education in Adelaide, travelling interstate became the only option. She began developing her skills under the guidance of international curl specialists Lorraine Massey and Nubia Rezo.

With a deep respect for curls and living with curls, Lou understands the peaks and troughs that a curl journey can be. At The Curl Collective, the aim is to love your curls and understand the way of life of a curly haired woman.

Every appointment is one on one. Lou works only with women with curls, so the time in the chair is spent reading the nuances of your hair and building a personalised plan you can actually keep up at home. No convoluted, high maintenance routine. Time is precious, and the aim is a winning result without all the fuss.

Lou does not sell appointments, she sells solutions. Cut, educate, care, empower. That is the work, and it is how women leave here finally understanding their curls.
